General Range Rules of Woodlawn Sportsmen's Club

  1. No! alcoholic beverages on any range.

  2. No! shooters under 18 years of age without an adult club member supervising.

  3. "Safety First" --- All guns will be benched (not handled), if anyone is downrange.  These guns will be in an open and safe condition.

  4. Eye and Ear protection be required on all gun ranges.

  5. All guests will sign the log book in the Club House before going to any range.

  6. All guests must be accompanied by a member at all times!

  7. Pick up all trash and debris before leaving.  This include targets, brass, and aluminum cases.

  8. If you see anyone doing something unsafe, tell them!  Question their actions, you may prevent a serious accident from happening.

  9. All shooting will be at appropriate targets.  No Bottles or Cans!

  10. Cold Ranges!  All Woodlawn property is to be considered cold.  If you carry concealed, leave your gun in your car or at home.

Practical Pistol Range Rules

  1. Range Officers have total control of the range.

  2. NO AMMUNITION! is allowed in the designated SAFE AREA!!!

  3. Guns will only be handled in the safe area, and on the firing line under the range officer's direction.

  4. Holsters must have a guard over the trigger and guard.

  5. The 180 degree rule will always be in effect.

  6. Any steel reactive targets must be set no closer than 15 yards from the firing line (because of splattering lead).

  7. The 25 yards range shall be used for handguns and .22 rimfire rifles only so that others may use the 100 yards range at the same time.

 

Trap Range Rules

  1. Anyone with a key is responsible for themselves and their guests.

  2. Never! Never! walk in front of a loaded trap.

  3. Remember to mark down the number of birds used.

  4. All Guns will be racked with the chambers empty and actions open, when not on the firing line.

  5. Do Not! pick up any empty hulls during a round of trap.  Wait until all guns are in the rack and in a safe condition.

  6. Do Not! leave without making sure both the trap and bird houses are locked.

  7. Put money in envelope (mark the date on the envelope) and drop in mail slot inside the Club House.  Envelopes are provided in drawer behind bar.

  8. No shots larger than 7 1/2 to be used on the trap range.  Use only 7 1/2 to 9s.

Trap Range Charges

$3.00 per round for members

$3.00 per round for non-members

 

Archery Range Rules

  1. Crossbows using field tips only are allowed on the range (effective 12-01-04).

  2. No! Broadheads in bales.

  3. When shooting inside, put targets butts back against wall, and throw out your used targets.

 

Outdoor Rifle Range Rules

  1. Targets must be placed at the lowest point of the farthest backstop!

  2. While loading, muzzles must be kept pointed in a safe direction.  This doesn't mean up in the air!!!  Muzzle loaders are of course excluded.

  3. All Actions will be kept open, unless on the firing line.

  4. There will be no gun handling while anyone is down range.

  5. Range officers, when present, will have total control over the range.

  6. The 25 yards range shall be used for handguns and .22 rimfire rifles only so that others may use the 100 yards range at the same time.

 

Indoor Range Rules

  1. All shooters and guests must sign in and indicate calibers to be used, in the range book before firing.  This does not include leagues.

  2. Shotgun, centerfire rifles, and centerfire cartridges in such guns as the Contender are not allowed.

  3. Centerfire handgun velocities must not exceed 1,000 fps.  High velocity .22 rimfires are allowed, but .22 Magnums are not allowed.

  4. Total metal jacket and armor piercing bullets are prohibited.  Full metal jackets, jacketed hollow point, and special indoor plated bullets may be used, but only at velocities below 1,000 fps.

  5. Black powder or its substitutes, such as Pyrodex, are not allowed.

  6. "Combat" or "Quick Draw" shooting are not allowed, such as "IPSC," "IDPA," or "Cowboy Action."

  7. Shooting will be no closer to the backstop than 50 feet.

  8. Range officers are in control of the range during league events.

  9. During league shooting, firearms shall not be handled off the firing line without permission of a range officer.

  10. All basic firearms safety rules are in force.  Deliberate or repeat violation thereof is a punishable offence.  Members who fail to call a safety violation to the attention of the offender, are themselves in violation!

  11. If range is not in use during a scheduled time anyone may use it for other than designated use.

  12. If someone shows up to use the range, and he has the time slot, kindly finish and allow them access!!!

  13. If the range is in full use, any guest must share the same shooting position with the member they came with.

Amendments to Range Rules

1.    Crossbows allowed on the archery ranges using field tips only.

2.    The use of the club's indoor range is limited to club members with the following exceptions: A. Non-Members enrolled in a sanctioned league or other club sanctioned function where a range officer is present. B. Guests who are the immediate family* of a member who is on the range and supervising. C. Hunter training classes.

*-Immediate family: grandparents, parents, spouse, siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.
